Next year Liverpool is a European Capital of Culture, and has a huge programme of events that are coming together now.
The programme and a god website can be downloaded here: Liverpool 08.
The city is expecting nearly 2 million visitors next year, and is featuring both classical and pop concerts and somebody called Paul McCartney is headlining a massive gig on June 1st. This will coincide with the Liverpool Biennial and the programme of public art and performances, and the Turner prize is still in situ at Tate liverpool.
For those who have never been, the city's waterfront buildings are a World Heritage site and just stunning.
Maybe see some of you up north,
Julie

We went to Liverpool last year intending to stay for a couple of days and ended up staying five plus another day in the Wirral (across the Mersey.) We loved the people, the atmosphere, the museums, the cathedrals, the waterfront .. everything.

Ahhhh, Liverpool. I highly recommend it! There's more there than just the Beatles. You can visit the art museums and Albert Dock, ride the Duck, pause in the quiet of the Anglican Cathedral, walk the walls of neighboring Chester, and view the stunning Liverpool skyline from the ferry cross the Mersey. The Beatles sights include John and Paul's boyhood homes, a coach tour of the Fabs' schools and neighborhoods, and a walk-through exhibit called the Beatles Story. The place is filled with kind-hearted, gregarious folks, some of whom grew up during the early Beatles' days and saw "the boys" perform.
