Just got back from Italy, via London, as that's where my flight took me, and stayed in one of the most charming B & B's I've ever experienced. It was recommended by airline employees I know, and was perfectly located for me, since I was flying out in 2 days. It's 15 minutes from Heathrow Airport, on the Picadilly line, then another 3 minute walk from the tube. It was on a quiet little street, and was just renovated a year ago. All the rooms are done in antiques, with soft pastel colors and chintz. It's pristine and quiet, even w/a full house.
I believe there are only 6 rooms, 2 are ensuite. And the couple who run it are warm, welcoming, interesting folks. I felt like I had gone to visit my favorite aunt and uncle. Breakfast was extensive, with many choices, served in a darling room overlooking the back garden. In nice weather, breakfast could be taken on the patio. The ensuite room was had, as a single was $60 US, $75 for double.
I stayed on my way back, too, as I was so exhausted from too much train travel, and just spent a whole day in, sleeping, with no disturbance, just womblike comfort. Oh, and did I mention there was a bathtub??! I could have holed up there for a week.
It's a 25 minute tube ride from London. And there are little shops and restaurants within walking distance. Garrie and Constance Williams can be reached through their website at www.primrosehouse.com
Tell them Cheryl sent you...........enjoy

Thanks Cheryl! Can I add this as a review to our England section? This is a good option for people flying into Heathrow and not wanting to face the drive to the countryside on their arrival (or the very expensive London hotels).

Hi Pauline,
By all means, add it to the list. It is the perfect stop-over, for less money, but more pampering. You won't be sorry. Ciao, Cheryl
