You can get past weather records at www.bbc.co.uk/weather. Expect it to be around 40 Fahrenheit, but it could wander in either direction; there could always be wind and rain. Lots of threads on here about favourite areas to stay. London is a very spread-out city, and nowhere is on top of absolutely everything, but the public transport will get you from A to B fairly quickly and reliably. Can't help about apartment rentals, I'm afraid, but I'm sure I've seen something like that question raised here. Bear in mind that London effectively closes on Christmas Eve and is slow to get going again on the 26th, and most people take a break right through until after the New Year if they possibly can. As for golf: try www.londongolf.info. Most golf courses, by their nature, are a long way out of central London (the one listed there as Central London is in Tooting, a good half-hour by train from the centre).

We spent Christmas in London in 2000 (went to see the Millenium Dome....bad mistake, but the rest of the trip was great). We used the Citadines Holborn Apartments at 94 High Holborn (we are a family of four). http://www.covacations.com/property.aspx?code=LON7710&d...ONDON&lid=LON7710TXTThe apartments were cozy, but were very well located for access to an Underground station and for strolling. The weather was good, but the interesting thing was that a very small snowfall (maybe a half inch?) brought the city to a standstill. The holiday decorations made the city very special and the tourist traffic was as low as I have ever seen it.
