Silly question. When traveling around Ireland and staying in typical B&B's, are there ever laundry facilities available? Or does one just have to find a laundromat somewhere?

We've never found laundry facilities available in a B&B, but we have found B&B owners who would send our laundry out to be done with their own for a reasonable price (in our experience, many B&Bs use laundry services rather than doing their own, since the daily volume of linens, etc. is so large). This has worked well for us since you don't lose valuable holiday time waiting around for laundry to run.

Laundry facilities were a real problem in most of the B & B's we stayed in, however 1 of them when we asked about laundromats etc. actually volunteered to do the laundry for us free of charge. We always travel with a washing line but found difficulty in hanging up the line in some of the showers.. solved that problem by using plastic coat hangers which I hung up in the shower. So from now on a plastic coathanger with a few plastic clothespegs now lives permanently in my suitcase!

Many laundromats offer a service where they do the laundry for you. Drop it off in the morning and pick it up before they close. We do this in the Cotswolds when we end up in a vacation rental with no washer. I am not sure if they offer this in Ireland, but you could ask one of the B&Bs you booked with.

When we got to Dingle, we had laundry done as Pauline described. I didn't see any self serve laundromats but I wouldn't have wanted to waste precious vacation time doing wash. Kevin's idea may help to keep the cost down.
