I propose to take easyBus from London Victoria to Gatwick Airport in September; and wonder if anyone has taken this service? It would be on a Saturday,at about noon; and I wonder if I should book an earlier bus in case traffic is bad. Do they have a good reputation for being on time? Is the bus stop easy to find near Victoria? The price is right: 4 pounds!! Please let me know if you have used this service. Thanks!
I have taken this service to Stansted Airport. It seemed quite well-organized and ran on time, at least for that stint.
However, I really would not recommend it for going to Gatwick. You have an easy option with Southern trains, which is a direct train that takes 38 minutes from Victoria Station, and is about 9 or 10 pounds. It's a long road journey to Gatwick - the train really is a better, quicker, and not much more expensive option.
SJ -I agree with Will about taking the train to go Gatwick.
Just take care that you buy the ticket he suggests as it is easy to make a mistake and get one for the more expensive 'Gatwick Express'. They both go from the same place, to the same place but the Express takes just a few minutes shorter time and is much more expensive. I have just looked up and see that Southern runs every 5 minutes or so, depending on the time of day and I think the Express goes every 15 minutes. Southern advertises as only taking 30 minutes for some trips.
Thanks for the advice everyone. I'll take the train then. I like trains better anyway, as we don't have good commuter train service in Western Canada!!
Felicity and all are right about the trains. I always tell people (and it's actually always included in our confirmation emails because the majority of "outsiders" just don't know about it) to take the Southern line because it costs about £10 less per person and only takes from 0-15 minutes more than the Gatwick Express. It usually costs £9.65 per person.
