Linda, thanks so much for this great trip report and for including such helpful detail.

I especially enjoyed learning more about the HF Holidays walking trips. I have heard good things about them but didn't understand how they were different from other walking tour companies. The UK is such a great places for walkers.

Thanks for the excellent report. Plenty of good ideas. Thanks too for the photos, especially the lovely view of St Ives ... pretty much exactly the view we have as we approach the town each time we go to stay there ... it brings back many excited memories!

Hi Linda,

It sounds as if you had a marvellous holiday and saw some beautiful parts of the country. Having read that the Pgy path up Snowden was 'medium' I rather wonder what they classify as hard.... especially considering the conditions. Snowden in bad conditions can and does kill people ... how sensible you were to turn back.

You will have to save Snowden for another trip. Actually the path up from Llanberis which follows the line of the railway is the easiest. But it does get very busy - you need to start out early. We began walking just after 6am and apart from a few brave souls coming down from a night on the summit didn't see a soul. Another advantage is that you are still in the shadow as once the sun is well up you are walking with full sun on your backs. We arrived at the top just before 9am and had 5 magical minutes on the summit by ourselves. Once the first train arrived at 9.30 it was horrible....

Thanks, everyone, for your nice comments. Kaydee, I have walked with HF in Spain, Italy, and Turkey as well as the UK. They are ideal for me. The walks are usually excellent.

Snowdon...well, I don't think I'll try it again!

Linda:

Thank you so much for posting this trip report. I have done a number of HF Europe Holidays, but have yet to do one in Britain. You have inspired me to think about doing one sooner rather than later. I very much enjoyed the detailed descriptions of all your walks.
