Chester Mystery Plays, performed every five years, date back to the 1300’s. Performed in the open air against the backdrop of the medieval Chester Cathedral, they are ‘Guaranteed to enrapture, astound and delight’!
Staged in two parts: The prophecy and The Fulfilment, the Prophecy beginning with the creation of the world and stories from the old testament up to the Nativity, the Fulfilment continuing the story of the life of Jesus and to the Last Judgement. Each part is a complete performance, but it is possible to see both on the same day. These tales of ambition, intrigue, betrayal and passion are presented by a company of four hundred people including acrobats, magicians, fire-eaters, stilt walkers, dancers, samba bands and musicians.
