Some other resources that may or may not be of interest:

Jabo's Trip Report, Dublin, County Cork and County Kerry May 2008. Jabo stayed in Kenmare, about "30k" from Killarney.
Vyolett stayed in an "unlisted" B&B in Killarney but unfortunately, didn't mention the name, 10 Short Days in Ireland.

Robert, are you spending a decent amount of time in Ireland or is this on a stopover from somewhere else?

About 6 years ago, we stayed at a wonderful hotel just outside Killarney. It was the Muckross Park Hotel - lovely room, although I'm sure the prices are much higher now. It was very convenient for driving the Ring of Kerry (not to be missed). At night, we spent time in an Irish pub my husband knew about (he plays Irish music) and the people there couldn't have been nicer.

This past June we stayed at a B&B in Killarney - a beautiful place and a great location. The only problem was that there was no heat and it was cold. No heat to ward off the early morning chill or the damp, rainy cold. This was the only B&B that didn't offer at least a bit of heat when needed during our 12 day visit to Ireland. However, if you are the hardy type, you might like this place. This is a 'complaint' I have heard from others about some Killarney B&B's as well. One night we went to the White Gate Pub - on Mondays the locals do their group dancing and it was fascinating to watch. Very nice neighborhood close to city center(this street was full of B&B's).
