The London Elizabeth is running its annual 1£ = 1$ special, making a 180£ room a great deal.
We stayed here several years ago and it was "okay".
Location is just above Hyde Park, near the Lancaster Gate tube station.

But the Premier Inn, near the London Eye and Westminster Bridge, is a deal to begin with, offering rooms at 95£.

So I am looking for some guidance from anyone familiar with either hotel and thoughts about which location would be the best choice.

Thanks.

I can't comment on either hotel except that the Premier Inn will be clean and functional rather than homely. But as for locations, it may depend on what you prefer. The Lancaster Gate location is right on the edge of Hyde Park and not too far from either the West End in one direction or Notting Hill and Kensington in the other direction. Because of the park it's quite green and leafy and there are plenty of big plane trees lining the main road giving a feel of a residential neighbourhood.

The area around Westminster Bridge and the Eye will be much busier and noisier. I expect the hotel will have double glazing for the noise, though. My preference would be for this area because you will be right by the river with it's many many attractions. This is one of my favourite parts of the city actually. Who cares about noise. You can sleep when you go home. Big Grin

And the more I think about this, the more I agree with you. We have stayed near Hyde Park several times, and it's true that it has more of a neighborhood feel but I think it's time for a change. As you said, I probably won't mind outside noise when I can walk just about anywhere I want to go.

Thanks for the "confirmation".

If it's the one in the old County Hall it may not even be that noisy. Rooms facing out near Westminster Bridge will be the noisiest but Belvedere Road itself is not a major road and the river side should be generally quietish.

An excellent location nowadays.

I have wandered by this premier hotel in Southwark many time, and have thought that it would be a great location. Right in the middle of the action on the south side of the Thames. Many good places to eat within walking distance.

Having said that- I have never stayed there myself. But a good Slow Traveler is always keeping an eye out!

I am a South Bank girl at heart and this is my favorite location in London. You only need to walk across the bridge to be in Westminster, but the range of restaurants available nearby on The Cut is a real draw for me. Get on the tube at Waterloo, and you are good to go in any number of directions. (The boats down the Thames to Kew etc also leave from the foot of Westminster Bridge.)

I stayed at the Premiere Travel Inn at Heathrow and thought it was perfectly efficient, quiet and clean. Just expect blondwood furniture and striated vinyl wallpaper.

Next time I am in London I plan to stay at the Premiere Travel Inn in Southwark.
