For three separate stays, I used Priceline and bid 3*, with rates ranging from $38 to $42 USD, and won the Holiday Inn Ariel. I can't guarantee you the same results, of course. But I was very happy with this, and the location is very convenient for the airport and even for getting into central London if you want. You could get a less convenient hotel if you use this method. Check http://www.betterbidding.com if interested in using Priceline or Hotwire for a Heathrow hotel.

Reasonable? Hmmmm....Not exactly sure if 99Pounds qualifies or not, but that is the lowest rate (advance purchase) for the only hotel that is physically connected to Heathrow Airport--the Hilton London Heathrow Hotel. If you have an early (or late) flight into/out of Terminal 4, you can't beat the convenience of the covered walkway that connects this hotel to the terminal.
