In spite of the expense of London, we will arrive at Heathrow on April 14. What are the options (cost and ease) for getting from Heathrow to Belgravia? We are staying at the B&B Belgravia and I'd love your comments if you've ever stayed there. It is on Edbury Rd., so if anyone has suggestions for reasonably priced restaurants/pubs in the area, I'd like them.
After three days in London we will then meet 5 of our friends at Heathrow (yes, we have to get back there again) and pick up two rental cars which we will keep for two weeks as we travel in Cornwall. What are the best rental rates you've found? We're looking at Hertz at the moment. is there any way to get around the exorbitant charge for extra drivers?
We have rented two houses in Cornwall, one near Fowey and one further south/west. Any suggestions for restaurant/pub, activities, nice hikes, etc. in those areas will be appreciated. We have a reservation at the Stanwell Hotel Heathrow for the night before we leave. Anyone stayed there?

B+B Belgravia looks like a good place. In terms of its location, it's maybe closer to Victoria than Belgravia - but Belgravia is a posher district! BTW, it's Ebury St.

Wendy knows a lot about Cornwall - I'm sure she'll be along soon to give advice. I haven't got any personal eating recommendations for the Victoria/Belgravia area, but I've just bought the 2008 edition of my favourite London eating guide ( Charles Champion's), and he suggests Jenny Lo's Teahouse, 14 Ecclestone St: 'homely Chinese noodle shop and teahouse'.

Hello,
Nice to think about Cornwall on a grey day here in Surrey!

As we were in Cornwall in September I do have lots of information about all the things you ask about,Jonathan is quite right.
I have been remiss and not updated my travel notes but I am sure I sent you a link to those earlier in the year?

Fowey is a gorgeous little place but slightly isolated from the rest of Cornwall so you will need to plan your excursions well. Where exactly is the other rental house?

One delightful walk from Fowey is The Hall Walkand here is another useful link.

Happily good restaurants now abound in Cornwall particularly in St Ives especially if you are fond of fish.
There are some good waterside pubs like Pandora's Inn at Mylor but let me refresh my memory and I'll let you know more.

National Express run coaches from the central bus station at Heathrow to Victoria Coach Station, (which backs onto Ebury Street).
Currently fare is 4 GBP so its one of the most economical ways of transferring to.
National Express
The central bus station is very convenient for Terminals 1,2,3 for Terminal 4 less so as you need to take the Heathrow Express train (free) to the central area where the bus station is.

Thank you for your suggestions. Wendyash, we are staying at Penquite Farm near Fowey and at Cherry Tree Lodge near Marazion. Familiar with either?

If I've found the right properties then I would want to know how close to a main road C Tree Lodge is, both for ease of access but perhaps more importantly to try and avoid noise pollution.
Is Granary your chosen property at Penquite? If so then my only obvious worry would be it's roadside location with no front garden even though the road is probably very quiet.
(As you will have children in your party.)

The tariff seems fair but I can't find one listed for C T Lodge. My suggestion is to see how they compare with Helpful Holiday properties of similar size.
Cornwall can be fearfully expensive but for an out of season holiday you should find rentals to be affordable.

My choice between the 2 properties you mention would be Granary on the farm as it's unlikely you'll get beach weather and Fowey is very badly off for beaches anyway apart from Readymoney Cove. The children will enjoy "pets corner" and the farm activities too.
Hope that helps a little.

We will be 7 adults, no kids. Suggestions for pubs, restaurants, nice hikes in each area (we will be staying at both places, a week at a time) will be appreciated.
