Going to London from US next month for a black tie wedding. I don't own a tuxedo and don't see any need to own one. So, what's better, rent in US and pack it to London or rent in London? Added degree of difficulty... I'll be staying in at least three different hotels during the week and possibly doing a side trip to Paris or Rome. The wedding is outside of London and I fly out the next morning. Thanks in advance for your help.

Seems like it'd be cheaper and less hassle to hire it here. You don't want to have to check a hired suit but at the moment I don't think they will let you carry it onboard. The only difficulty I would foresee is this: is there somewhere you can collect a suit from the day before the wedding (or as many days beforehand as you want to pick it up) where you can return to after the wedding to give the suit back again?

Also, are you quite sure you need to wear a tux? In my experience (and I have been to a billion weddings this summer!!!) they are not generally black tie in this country. Still, it's by no means unheard of and if that's what the invitation says then your best bet in England would be

who are the best known suit hire place. You would need to prebook; they have a bunch of branches in London and plenty outside of London too - maybe one near the wedding you are going to, that would be ideal. I think my problem finding a vendor is derivative of the US/UK language barrier. "Tuxedo rental" doesn't get you quite as far as "Suit hire."
