I enjoyed your latest installment Tom! We are about to go "swimming with the Gods" too , so it was fun to see those pictures.

If you haven't seen the wonderful sites at Pergamum and it is on your route...don't miss them.

Mozart loved Troy and our wonderful guide Mustafa Askin who was born there and wrote the best book on the subject.

It is another hard country to leave ( due to all the beauty, special hospitality and warmth of the people and awesome ancient sites) eh?

I hope it has cooled down where you are like it has here at the moment.

Hi Tom&Judy:

Yay!! I'm so glad you posted here. Sometimes I forget to check my favorite blogs for new entries. I've been looking forward to your next entry and will read it tonight.

WT, I am also enjoying reading your blog and really liked the photo you posted recently of your meeting with Tom&Judy!

Thank you.

I just read your latest entry and really enjoyed it. I must admit that I was trying to guess what you meant by "Swimming with the Gods" and I wasn't even close. Very cool!!!
I enjoyed all the history and photos you took and also found the photos of the people you met (and their stories)in your Kaz entry so interesting.

Thanks again and I'm looking forward to your next entry!

Thanks Kathy! Actually, I think it was Tom who uploaded the picture here. You can not tell from the picture, but it was a gorgeous setting. ( Not to mention good company Wink )

I am just starting our Turkey entries so will post some on the blog too soon. It is really a fascinating country. We could not help but think of Tom's "swimming with the Gods" line when we visited that spot ourselves.

The heat wave seems to be back in this neck of the woods and we are now in Samos enjoying a gorgeous sea view as I write this.

Thanks Kathy, glad you enjoy reading it!

My daughter had another name for the many white tavertine pools in Pamukale because one of her favorite movies was filmed there.

She calls it "Calypso's pools" as that is where they filmed that part of the Odyssey film ( or so it appears).

Ancient kings enjoyed these waters and I must say I found them very healing myself. If I had to do it again I would have stayed a night or two there to really soak them up and maybe in Spring or fall to fully appreciate the warm water.

In summer you need to go late to avoid all the tour bus people, but the sunset there was great and peaceful. The moon came out and its crescent shape and north star looked just like the Turkish flag. Wink

Turkey is a fabulous country and it is nice to be able to share it with people as most people do not know what they are missing.

We were nervous to go and our family worried a bit, but our experience was so great and not the least bit scary or anything to worry about.

It is a treasure not to be missed and cheap to boot! Wink
