If you're booking a visit to the island of Hvar - specifically Hvar town - make sure you ask your hotel or rental owner about noise from Club Veneranda.

We moved hotels after one night - from the Pharos to the Sirena - because the boom from the disco was so loud. The club opens at 10pm and the noise is constant until 5am. It rattled through our hotel room even though we closed all the doors and windows. The clerk at the Pharos indicated one or two guests left each day because of the noise from the night before. Thankfully, the Sirena was perfectly quiet at night.

Because the club faces the port, the disco boom can be heard throughout much of Hvar town, and is also an issue at the Delfin and several other hotels. The clerk at the Pharos indicated there've been lots of complaints but the club owner has a permit/license and so there's nothing that can be done about the noise.

Do yourself a favor - before you book accomodations - ask about the noise level from the disco.

We just came back from Croatia and Bosnia. For those contemplating staying on Hvar, I would recommend Jelsa, Vrboska, or Starigrad. All very beautiful and each a short ride to Hvar town. We actually stayed in Zavala right on top of a beautiful gravel beach. We rented an apartment for 4 nights in a home. Very nice, but not much town. One restaurant (it was quite good) a grocery and a bakery shack just off the beach.
