My husband will be visiting Eastern Europe in June while I'm in Provence and Paris with my girlfriends (15 of us!). Wonder why??
A friend of ours is joining him for this part of the trip. They have considered renting a car to drive from Budapest to Krakow to Prague, but the drop-off charges are high. The train allows them to see the countryside, but not stop where they want. Flying is cheap, but too high.
There seem to be many caveats about taxis and drivers in these areas. Has anyone had experience with one they could recommend? They would want to hire someone to drive from Budapest to Krakow, and another one from Krakow to Prague.
Hi Gail. We're confronting somewhat the same situation in the fall, when we want to pick up a car in Vienna, stay along the Danube for a couple days and then in Cesky Krumlov for 3 days, and drop off the car in Prague -- the drop fee is almost $300! If we could find a driver to take us from Linz to Cesky Krumlov, we'd be fine. The only thing I can think of is to contact their hotels to see if they have any contacts. Let us know what you find out! PS Hope you had a good time in TN!
