Hello everyone. I'm new here. My name is Miguel, living in Japan. In August I'm off to Switzerland for a month of hiking in the Alps. It is my first time in the country and I will be flying in to Zurich. For the most part I'm pretty comfortable finding a place to stay upon arrival somewhere, but since I'm arriving in expensive Zurich during the height of the tourist season I thought I ought to book ahead for that first night or two. I'm traveling on a tight budget (I will be camping most of the time in the Alps) and would like to find something that doesn't cost too much, but I also would prefer a place that is quiet and a little off the main tourist areas. So it doesn't have to be bargain basement rates. Might anyone here know of a nice little hotel in Zurich that they can recommend? The ones I've seen here so far are a little beyond my wallet. Thanks very much! Hope to hear from you soon.

The only budget hotel with which I have first-hand experience in Zurich is Hotel Limmathof (http://www.limmathof.com/). It's not exactly what you're looking for, since it's in the city, but it is very convenient to the train station (and thus to the airport, which is 10 minutes away by train).
