Hi everyone,

Has anyone stayed at La Rembrandt Residence in Amsterdam? I am going to England in September this year, and eight of us are going on a side trip of four days to Amsterdam. My friend in England has picked this place, but hasn't booked as yet, but will soon...it's 3 star, and seems "cheap but cheerful". Read the reviews on the site, and it seems quiet, and not too bad. We'll be out most of the time I think anyway! Any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks.

I am not familiar with La Rembrandt Residence. From the web site, it looks to me to be focused more towards the business traveler. The location is good. It is just a couple of blocks from the Anne Frank House. It is near the same location as the Sheraton Pulitzer Hotel which is very nice. You can easily walk into the canal area towards Leidsestraat and further to the museum area. I enjoyed the areas along the canals and the side streets. There are lots of interesting and unique shops. The Jordaan area is also interesting and not far from the hotel.

We did discuss Amsterdam hotels in this thread. It might have a few other options.

Hi Marta,

Thanks for your comments...yes it does seem to be in a good location, I think that's why my friend chose it, because it's about 10 minutes walk from most things, and on the canal etc. Price is good, and the reviews I read said it was quiet, and I like peace when I'm trying to sleep so that's good! The only negative comment I saw pertained to the fact there was no tea/coffee/kettle in room, but they provide breakfast downstairs, no biggie for me..but some folks like a cuppa while they're getting ready I suppose. Looking forward to seeing the Anne Frank House as I read the book in school...long, long ago when dinosaurs roamed the earthSmile Not sure what the Jordaan area is, but I'll look that up!
The eight of us on this trip/adventure are all turning 50 this year, and I went to school with them in England (high school), so this is our celebration trip. Should be a lot of fun!
Thanks again for your help,
Avis
