OK, I know there's an express train that runs from the airport to Central Station in about 20 minutes.

But it's about $70 round trip so I was looking for some cheaper options (I realize it's expensive up there).

Found a bus transfer service which costs $18 each way, or about 1/2 of what the express train costs. Takes 40 minutes supposedly.

Has anyone tried it?

It stops at the following locations:

Jarva Krog
Frosunda
Haga Norra
Haga Forum
Norra stationsgatan
St Eriksplan
Stockholm City

Are any of these near the Central Station?

Maybe the one at Stockholm City is.

I don't know what "Stockholm City" refers to exactly, but it really makes little difference: all three transportation hubs downtown are in the same block: Cityterminalen, T-Cenralen Station, or Central Station. Where the commuter buses from the airport arrive, I cannot say.

There are pedestrian walkways (moving sidewalks)between these stations, so in any case, you'll have no problem going from one to another or connecting to your final destination.

Yes the bus appears to be the flyggbus.

There is a link to it at the stockholmtown.com, the Stockholm tourism site.

But a better option may be a shuttle service which takes you directly to the hotel for a bit more.
