We have 5 nights to spend in Sevilla, Cordoba, or Grenada. How should we best divide our time? Also, we will be heading to Barcelona after our five nights. Since I don't care for flying, we have plans to take the overnight train. Which of those towns would be easiet to leave from and get to Barcelona?
Thanks, Cindy

I have not taken the train to Barcelona, but you might get an answer over at Madridman website.

I would skipped Cordoba and spend three days in Sevilla and two in Granada.

Hi (again!) CindyMA!

I'm with Digital Traveler Bill. (dude!) I too would skip Córdoba having only 5 days in Andalucía. You'll likely need 3 days for Sevilla alone and in Granada, just seeing the Alhambra/Generalife requires an entire afternoon. Do justice to Granada and give her 2 days.

Córdoba IS very very nice and you would love it too. If you MUST go to all three cities, spend 2 days in Sevilla (although, as stated, 3-days is usually the minimum), 1 day in Córdoba, and 2 days in Granada.

Regarding training to Barcelona from Andalucía, all trains will pass through Madrid. (Check the RENFE train website to be sure) There's a chance you'll have to change trains there. I imagine the overnight train you're considering is the one overnight train (a slow train) from Madrid-Barcelona which takes, I believe, 7.5 hours. (check the RENFE website) The total train travel time will likely take about 10-11 hours. Wow. Sure you don't want to fly?

Best of luck and enjoy your time in Spain!

Saludos, MadridMan

Three nights in Seville and 2 nights in Granada would be best and with regards to getting to Barcelona, you can get a direct train from Granada. There is a daytime service and also an overnight service. Although you´re not keen to fly IBERIA airlines have had some exceptional deals lately that might make it worth doing www.iberia.es
