I am thinking of staying in the Old Town area of Zadar. Has anyone had any success in finding a nice place to stay? Is it better to stay here or in the hotel area outside the old town? I'ld rather be right in the old town so we don't have to walk back and forth to our hotel.

Zadar is in Croatia so I'm going to move this to the Rest of Europe where it will get more visibility.

We stayed in Zadar just a few days ago, on our way to Southern Croatia (where we are now!). We strongly recommend the Bastion Hotel in Zadar http://www.hotel-bastion.hr/en/. A lovely hotel in an exceptionally good location, in the old town, an easy walk to all the sites, but right by the water so fairly quiet with a view of the big ferries passing. It is not cheap, at 130 Euros per night for a double room (the rooms are not large), but the quality is exceptional for the region.

Hi Nilda.

Zadar is a really nice town. I stayed there last June at this rental. You didn't say how many of you will be traveling, but this place is perfect for two. Very clean, very quiet. The price was very affordable, too. It is located across the harbor from old Zadar, and if you walk to the waterfront, there's a guy with a little boat with an outboard motor that runs a sort of shuttle back and forth across the water, for about $1.50 each way. It's like a 5 minute ride.

Make sure to spend some time at the Sea Organ while you are there. Sunset is especially nice.
