Hi, I have recently booked three nights on Phildutch Houseboat in Amsterdam in November. This houseboat has over 60 reviews on Tripadvisor 98% good reviews. This is a surprise for my husbands 50th. We are flying in from London where we will be visiting my inlaws for two and a half weeks. This will be a nice break. Will be sure to post a review. Woohoo can't wait! April Fool

Sounds like a great time!We are going to spend our first night on our long trip around the world on a houseboat on Brouwersgracht which is a lovely area in the center I have been told.We booked it thru Frederic ( who has great reviews on Rick Steves). We are excited too and will be there in 42 days...can't wait!

They do seem really romantic and special ( I also thought my 5yo daughter would get a kick out of it )!

Brouwersgracht is a nice. It is at the 'top' of the ring of canals and it will give you lots of options for walking along the different canals. I at at De Belhamel which is right at where Brousersgract and Herengracht join. I have some notes on Holland on my blog. This shot was taken at night from just outside the restaurant.

Thanks Marta, I really enjoyed reading your blog!I have been "thru" Amsterdam many times but I have never spent any time there before,so I am excited to get to know Holland a bit better this time.We will need a few days to a week & want to see lots of sites and bike around. There are some fun things for kids and it will be good for us to adapt our "sea legs" to our RV journey ( while we are close enough to the place we bought it if there are any problems).

My brother married a girl from Holland,so we will meet her family in the Hague too.I was thinking about doing an intinerary based on "storybook travels" that are great for kids and based on good kids lit,but we might just wing it too.

I hear it is a nice neighborhood to walk around it ( and theres a flea market nearby too someone said). Thanks for the restaurant link...I put it in my AMS file. Wink

Thanks. The Hague is nice. We lived there for 3 months way back in 1990 and 1996. I returned for a visit in 2002 before our office moved to Leiden. Madurodam is a fun place for both kids and adults.
