I am posting this for a friend. She is flying into Brussels on June 14, and plans to take the train from Thalys to Paris. She was planning on buying her train ticket at the station to avoid the agent's fee when buying online. Can anyone tell me if this is a bad idea? We figured there are trains from Thalys to Paris every 40 minutes, therefore, advanced tickets are not a real issue. She's travelling alone and doesn't mind riding in 2nd class for the short trip. Thanks.

Her idea sounds fine to me.

I'm assuming you have looked at the Thalys site. With that frequency, she should be able to get a ticket. The site does imply that there is a discount for purchasing in advance up to 3 months. We booked in advance because we were leaving from a station that had less frequency and wanted to leave at a specific time.
