Read a great review written by a guy on here of Slovenia- that's why i signed up, in fact! anyone got any good tips for places to stay? we're going in a couple of weeks, and want to visit the caves....plus, do you know if you can rent speedboats on the lakes there, or is it not that kind of place?

I am pretty sure you cannot rent speedboats on the lakes (at least in Bled and Bohinj). Fortunately - speedboats would destroy the beautiful and peaceful scenery!
There are lots of good places to stay depending on where you are going.
Slovenia has thousands of caves, but the best known are in Postojna some 50 kilometres southwest of Ljubljana.
I suggest you visit the Slovenian tourist board at http://www.slovenia-tourism.si/
At http://www.sitestory.dk/rejser/bled2002/indexe.htm I have posted some of my own impressions and photos from a trip to Bled in 2002.
