Here's a review for a little place specializing in tapas that our family really enjoyed. It's right off Las Ramblas and wouldn't be that far from where you'll be staying.

Cap pep in Barcelona is famous and we had a great meal there. It is very popular however, so I would get there when it opens or be prepared to wait. For more detials on our Barcelona dining experiences check out my Spain trip report found on my Slow Travel Pages in my signature. I loved Barcelona!

Many years ago I ate at a place called Los Caricoles, I remember that it was a great experience but it is simply to far back to recall individual dishes. It is an experience!

My suggestions:
Bar Jai-ca (C/ Ginebra 13): cheap seafood tapas
El Xampanyet (C/Montcada 22): fresh cider and great tapas. don´t miss the anchovies
