My brother in law wants to take an apartment in a ski resort for two months and I said I would help him find somewhere suitable (I have a vested interest as we will be visiting him during his stay). He wants Alpine charm and we all love Austria and find it cheaper than Switzerland. He lives in France so he doesn't want to go to a French resort. Good snow is important. We think Obergurgl fits the bill but I don't know anyone who has been there in the last twenty years!
Has anyone ever taken an apartment or house there (on a long term basis) that they could recommend? I have found several websites where people advertise so I think I am not short of possible property (although they all seem to have nightly rates so it may be difficult negotiating for two months) - it would just be nice to have a personal recommendation and I hope there is someone out there who knows the village. Is it noisy in the centre at night? Has it retained its village feel? I would love to hear from a recent visitor...
We are actually going to Obergurgl in November, but I've never been there before. I'm hoping that the snow is good as we're hoping to ski for a week over Thanksgiving.
