I'm leaving in a week for a Baltic cruise, and I really don't know much at all about the ports. I would ideally like to take each of the ports "slow" so does anyone have advice on how to slow down, when you only have typically 6-8 hours off the boat? Are there any secret favorite spots for you? Any great lunch spots, gardens, shops etc? Any info or suggestions are most appreciated. Our itinerary is Copenhagen; Warnemunde, Germany; Tallinn; St. Petersburg (got a local guide); Stockholm; Helsinki. Thanks in advance!

Hi Maeby,

Have you checked out t-mac's trip report on our main site? It's about her experiences on a 10-day Baltic cruise. It sounds like some of your stops may be similar to hers. Maybe this will be helpful to you.

Tallinn was in our opinion, one of the finest towns for a long day of just walking. Great old town, castle and walls on the hill, good choice of restaurants and a fine small market square. Preferred it to Helsinki, Stockholm (except for the Vasa Museum) and Riga. There is a small number of knitware stalls up against the town wall on the east side of the old town. Excellent values.
