In a couple of years I plan to take off 3 months and rent a house/apt. The purpose is to explore an area, get to a few large cities to enjoy art and other sites, and take a rest. I can go any time of year I chose. Probably will have my dear husband along. I hope for a warm location, maybe near or on water, friendly locals, moderate price, within striking distance of a larger city for art on a few weekends. I've been to London, Spain, Luxembourg, Mosel River area in Germany, Xosta Rica. In all your yravels where would you go back to hang out for 3 months?

Ok, Stefanacio. But where in Italy would you suggest I check out for a moderate term rental? On the coast or a lake, not too far from a train station so train could be used tonget to some more touristy places should I get restless. Thanks.

The two places that immediately come to my mind are Sulmona and Viterbo. Both straight shots to Rome by train. Both not too isolated, not too far from the sea.

This describes roughly 100% of Italy.
