I was wondering if anyone knew of any slowtrav trip reports about Santorini? I have looked but could not find one. We are there from July 7th to the 14th......flying from Newcastle while in the UK.
I was thinking it would be cool to find a trip report that was from Santorini to get an idea of how we would be possibly spending our week there. Thanks for trying though.
We did a combo of things. We rented a car for a few days and explored the island. We stopped at wineries and little towns...did shopping, well more sightseeing. Enjoyed the sunset everynight as we stayed right at the best spot for that!. We lounged by the pool and read books. We did some hiking about. It was very enjoyable. We almost did a house swap with some one on Santorini this year!
I just had another thought! Perhaps we could take a ferry to another island for a day trip. Has anyone done that before with success in getting back to Santorini on the same day?
We spent a week in May at the Anastasis Apartments in Imergoviglia. We loved it. We were "slow" travellers and a week was not too much. We explored the island, we walked, we swam. It was lovely.
Sandy: Two years ago, we spent 5 days in Oia at Aris Caves We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We visited the museum in Fira and the winery in Oia, walked the path along the caldera from Oia to Fira, had dinner at Katina's in the harbour at sunset, had a great meal and a fun evening at Santorini Mou and, above all, enjoyed the beautiful view of the caldera from our terrace.

Hi Sandy, I know you're enroute and I'm sure you'll give us a full report when you get back. Sshhhhh don't tell the france board, but I'm thinking of dropping Normandy next year and spending 5 days in Santorini
