The March issue of 'Victoria' magazine (love that mag!) has a brief article on how to find B&B's in England with beautiful gardens. There's a website B&B's for Garden Lovers - UK or you can order a booklet from the website. (The website has actual photos, vs. the paper guide which has only drawings.) Both are updated once per year.

Quote from the article: {Sue Colquhoun} ... "her brochure, 'Bed and Breakfasts for Garden Lovers', features more than a hundred homes, with hosts ranging from professional garden designers to botanical artists. Sue selects them as much for their courtesy as for their horticultural know-how." Another: 'Though hers is hardly a money-making enterprise...Sue is delighted with its success. "It's one of those dotty English ideas that just works!"'

One of my favorite quotes about English gardens:

Gertrude Jekyll (Gardening writer in England), we got this quote from Richard, the owner of the farm where we were staying near Stroud.

"It is important that even in the very smallest garden, not less than an acre must be reserved for trees."
