Hi all

I am contemplating my next trip. Does anyone have a book (or resource) to recommend for driving various scenic Alpine roads? Any or all countries - either books by specific country or (bonus) a guidebook that covers several. Not only scenic drives but places to stay would be great too.

many thanks.

Thomas Cook in their "Drive Around" series publishes:

"Drive Around Italian Lakes and Mountains" (2005) by Barbara Radcliffe Rogers, Stillman Rogers with Paul Karr and;

"Drive Around Bavaria and the Austrian Tyrol" (2005) by Brent Gregson.

I have both books but have yet to put them to the acid test. Each book has 25 suggested tours with stopping points, hotels and restaurant recommendations, along with photos and maps.

Looking on Amazon, I see my editions are out of date, and that each of the above books has an edition with a 2007 publication date.
