well a fellow ST remind me to write about Luxembourg. I am going again this time for the weekend get away. More pepperoni lovers pizza and great Mosel beer.
Not to mention one of the loveliest compact countries in the world. Sites of many battles and the burial of Gen Patton; his museum in Ettelbruck north of Lux city. and the American cementary south of the city in Ham.
Very compact city center around place d'armes.

love to hear stories, trips of this pretty nation from fellow ST.

Okay, we spent a couple of days in Luxembourg in October 2005 after a river cruise on the Mosel. Among my recollections:

Finding Patton's grave after quite a hunt since we used public transport and got there when the info booth at the cemetery was closed. It was a trip highlight for my husband, the history buff.

Catching the end of an apple market in one of the major squares and succombing to potent apple liquer pressed upon us by the proud makers.

The cute if very touristy little train that runs around the highlight areas up and down and around.

Attending mass at the beautiful cathedral amid the local Luxembourgers.

And, last but not least, receiving a nudge to learn about Luxumbourg from a proper but delightfulful Luxumbourg couple with whom we shared lunch while on a day tour of Siracusa, Sicily. They introduced us to Averna, now one of our favorite digestivs.
