I'll be making my third visit to Zurich in November, arriving on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Does anyone have any suggestions for a day trip from Zurich? I'll be arriving in the early morning and could probably start my day trip around noon.

Thanks!
Sharon

In September I did a day trip to Lucerne from Zurich. It's a one hour train ride and it's a very pretty city. If you don't mind the cold, take a the cog car up to Mt. Pilatus.

Why travel to Lucerne ? Zürich is a beautiful town with many beautiful places by the lake, especially now in Autumn. The trees with its golden colours, red, yellow, green and brown. I wouldn't recommend Pilatus, it's freezing up there !!

I want to see more than Zurich. This will be my 3rd trip to Switzerland with 90% of my time in Zurich, which is a beautiful town (and I'll be there for a week, so I'll have time to enjoy auumn around the lake). My only trip outside of Zurich was to Basel; so I'm anxious to see more.

I wonder if you've ever been to the Rheinfall, the biggest waterfall in Europe, 1/2 hour with the car from ZH. Or to the Arenenberg Castle,
in Mannenbach, ca. 2 hours from ZH with the train. It's truly beautiful with a fantastic view on the Bodensee. Or to Diessenbach which is famous for its beautiful paths by the Rhein.
