I need some advice while completing my travel plans to Tangier, Morocco via Spain. I am traveling with my partner, my 20 year old son and his 21 year old friend. We are en-route to Tangier, and our flight gets into Malaga in the evening on May 19th. I would like to stay overnight in Malaga and then travel on to Tangier by bus/ferry the next day. Can anyone recommend a hotel that would be close to whatever nightlife would appeal to two young men? We will not be reserving a car, so the hotel should be convenient to bus lines. Thanks!

Hola Debbie.

The hotel sur Malaga may be what you are looking for. Link below.

Its close to the Cathedral and the port. The botanic gardens are there also and loads of tapas bars and nightlife right on the doorstep.

You don't say how you are getting to Tangiers.?

If you go from Algecirus port then you need to take the bus from Malaga as the train only goes as far as Fuengirola.

Hola

Heres some travel info to Algecirus from Malaga

Take bus number 19 from the airport to Malaga bus station. There are departures every 30 minutes from 7 AM to midnight. The trip takes 20 minutes and costs €1.00.

From Malaga bus station, there are regular buses to Algeciras. The last bus leaves at 9:45 PM. The trip takes 2 or 3 hours and costs around €10.00.
See estabus.emtsam.es for timetables

If you prefer a train from Malaga to Algeciras, you will have to change in Bobadilla. Travel time is over 4 hours. A one-way ticket costs around €10.00.
See www.renfe.es for timetables.

Thank you! I appreciate your response to my inquiry. We will most likely take the bus/ferry to Tangier as I have been told it's quite a pretty ride. (Our family lives in Tangier.) After about a week there, we will be returning to Spain to see the southern part of the country before departing out of Malaga back to London & on to the US. Any further suggestions would be most welcome!

Hola.

It depends what you are looking for when you get back into Spain.

There is everything available, the cities of Cadiz, Seville and Jerez de la Frontera.

You have the beach life down on the Atlantic coast. Tarifa is the place for windsurfing and water sports.

Up in the mountains where we are is perfect for the scenery and pretty white villages of western Andalucia and during May the weather is perfect and the wild flowers are in full bloom

Spoiled for choice you will be.
