For those of us old enough (or young enough) to remember the rock group Queen, there is a new musical in London called We Will Rock You. This is not a biography of the group, but a musical based on the music of the group. It's getting some good buzz on the AOL boards. Here's the website Will Will Rock You
Tracy, Queen was the second concert ( first Elton John ) I ever went to back in 1976, and they were amazing. I was about 20 feet away from Freddie Mercury and boy were his tights tight if you know what I mean!
The story sounds interesting, hmmm maybe a stop over in London is in order.
My dad recently discovered (via Napster) the music of Freddie Mercury, and thinks his voice is the greatest! Dad was very disappointed to learn that ol' Freddie was dead.

Pauline, I know you're young enough to know Queen! You know the song "We Will Rock You" - remember - We will, we will ROCK YOU! Popular at sporting events. Also, Bohemian Rhapsody - another popular sporting event song because it ends with "we are the champions of the world." nd then, there's my theme song - "fat bottomed girls, they make the rocking world go round!"
Now, you do know Queen!

By the way, Liz, the closest to the stage I ever got was when I was able to lie my way backstage at the Billy Joel concert - don't ask....
Ah - that is the reason. The 70s. I missed popular culture for a good deal of the 70s (a great decade to miss). Spent a year in the Rockies working at a hotel with no access to radio or TV. Then working two jobs and going to University in Vancouver - no time. By the time I emerged it was 1978.
I do remember the Vancouver punk band DOA (with Joey Sh**head). Do you remember them?

Oh yeah remember DOA, although I myself wasn't into the punk rock scene much. Joey SH was in the news recently, I think he was thinking about running for public office or something!
