We're going to spend two nights in Lucerne in late July near the end of our trip... just before starting our 100-mile Alpine Pass walk. (We will then go to Engleberg for the night, which is where the walk starts.)
We want to be right in Lucerne (we will not have a car) and would prefer to stay in the Old Town. We are looking for an "interesting" and moderately-priced place... would consider a small inn or even a B&B. In 1991 I stayed at the Chateau Gulsch and then in 1997 we stayed at the Hotel Krone... not that interested in going back to either of those.
