Now that I have hotel reservations in Krakow and Zakopane, I am on to planning local transportation. Has anyone taken the express train from Warsaw to Krakow? I am specifically interested in knowing if I need to make my train reservations in advance in order to guarantee a seat or should I wait and buy the train ticket at the Warsaw Airport Orbis office. Also, if I make an online reservation and then miss the time due to a flight delay, can the tickets be exchanged for a later train?
In case this helps: We arrive in Warsaw on 19 July @ 2:10 pm. Our plan is to go through customs, immigration, collect our luggage and then travel to the train station for one of the express trains to Krakow. There is an express train every hour and I think we could make the 18:05 train (also trains at 19:05 and 20:05).
I would like to make an online reservation for our train tickets using the PKP - Polish Trains website. You can reserve tickets 14 days in advance. However, nowhere on the website do I see any information on an exchange policy. I would like to do as much as I can in advance so that we wait in fewer lines once we arrive in Poland but this may be something I need to leave until we land. Any advice??
