Hello,
My wife and I will be flying into Rome for about a week in May to celebrate our 30th anniversary. I have also been researching my geneology for the past 4 years and have located cousins in Satu Mare Romania. I thought it might be a good time for me to try and see them while we are in Europe. I thought about flying from Rome to Budapest then taking a train from Budapest to Satu Mare.

That's when I lose it, is there a shuttle that takes you from the airport to the train station? I can't even find where to locate the train station to see if they go to Satu Mare Romania.

I'll probably have more questions later, I didn't want to seem to greedy Smile. Any suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Rick

Hi -- when in a jam, my fallback is to look at the German Rail website, which is very comprehensive. It shows different train times and connections to Satu Mare depending on day of the week, but basically the trip from Budapest to Satu Mare is 6-7 hours. There seems to be a direct train on Saturdays, but most schedules require at least one change en route. There is also an option for Satu Mare Sud.

Go to http://www.bahn.de/international/view/en/index.shtml and play around; let me know if you get stuck.

About shuttle, do you mean in Budapest?

Thanks alot Sally, I'll see what I can find at that site, I've had some difficulty since I started planning this. I'm just anal enough that I need to have every detail planned out.

Concerning the shuttle; I didn't know how far it was from the airport to the train station.
