I've been researching Romania for the last 2 months in preparation for our trip this summer.
And, the conclusion we've come to (with not a little consternation) is that we just can not do it justice by combining it with Budapest and Montenegro.
Romania, is screaming at me for much more attention that the single week I was offering to her.
So, sadly, we have changed our plans for this year. Instead of going to Romania from Montenegro, we are going to head back to Umbria.
I've already started planning next year's trip to devote the entire month to Romania and Moldova.
So, my beautiful Maramures, please wait for us. We will be there next year.

Thanks. Yes, I know I'll be glad next year. It just feels a bit like a loss at the moment.
I'll get over it.

Next year when you go to Romania, don't ignore Bulgaria. We liked it as much as Romania. And in Romania, be sure to visit Peles Castle -- it was the highlight of our trip. It is closed for a month each fall -- I forget which month. We rearranged our itinreary to get there before it closed. And we were very glad we did! Brenda M

Five more sleeps...as we STers tend to proclaim in our countdowns.
I still need to cancel the newspapers and put a hold on the mail.
All the bills are scheduled for payment. I have a small stash of the various currencies we will need.
Because all of our apartments have washers, we will pack only about 5 days clothing for our 30 day trip. So, that will only take a half hour or so.
Just sitting here twiddling my thumbs, waiting for the last few days to pass.

Jane, I've written your telephone number in my address book. The number at Montemigiano has changed, but I'll send you a PM when I get all that info.
Where are you flying out of? We arrive at JFK on Wed. from StL at 2:45PM and wait until 5:45 for our flight on Malev to Budapest.
