I am getting really confused. I am trying to get from Seville to Barcelona on an overnight train. I can't seem to find what I am looking for. Should I be using a Eurail pass, and then purchasing a bunk on the train?
Thanks,
Cindy

What site are you using - the renfe site?

It looks kind of expensive - 53 Euro for the ticket, but another 78 Euro for a bed! I would look into flying... Iberia often has really good deals.

Is that going to be 50 Euro for a ticket besides my Eurail pass? Or does my pass cover the ticket and I need to get the bed. That is what I am confused about.
Thanks, Cindy

Hola.

The 00694 train from Seville to Barcelona goes daily and leaves Sevilla Santa Justa at 08.20 and arrives at Barcelona Sants at 20.53. It doesn’t have sleeping cars.

The price hovers around 53 Euros depending on what day you travel and isn’t all that expensive when you consider that Barcelona is over 1000 Km (600 odd miles) away by road.

I’m a big kid when it comes to trains. I love them. For me the train journey is a highlight and the fact that the train leaves in the morning means that you get the whole day of watching the amazingly diverse terrain of Spain float by. I wouldn’t go for the sleeper. That’s a bit more expensive at 73 euros and leaves daily at 21.22 and gets to Barcelona at around 8 in the morning.

Hope that helps a bit. If you are struggling with the renfe web site let me know and I’ll translate it for you.

So Clive, just so I know for the future - if you take the night train, you don't pay for the ticket then a supplement for the bed? Because that is how I was reading it and it seemed awfully expensive to do it that way.

As for the eurail pass... I am not sure Cindy but I can't imagine they would charge 50 Euro extra. Maybe you should contact the people who sold you the pass.

Hola!

at www.renfe.com

I filled in the boxes seville to barcelona
for the 30th march 06 and clicked buscar/go/search

Trains available are

Garcia Lorca leaves at 0820 and price is 53.70 adult normal class (daily)takes 12 hours with 21 stops. bog standard train for real travellers.

Altaria leaves at 09.44 and price is 82.80 (only wed thur fri sat)takes 8.5 hours with only 8 stops....Whoosh!!!!!!Posh train with restaraunt and nicer seats, video and music...

Trenhotel leaves at 21.22 and price is 72.90 plus the price of the bed which can be found in the drop down menu. I think that you can just sit on a normal seat for the night for the 72.90 but boy that sounds boring.

If it was me the big kid. I'd sort a packed lunch and snacks, charge up the digital camera and take the Garcia Lorca for a 12 hour fun ride...

Clive and Sue (did you notice i'm on the Albali again?)
