My Dad just sent me part 4 of my parents September Italian/Austian trip report. Thier time in Austria was spent with my sister and her family, and they went to a really interesting Kids Hotel. If any one wants to travel with thier kids and go to a place where everyone will have fun, this could be a great option:
Appelhof Kinderhotel located in Murzsteg, Austria, on A23 between Murzzuschlag and Mariazell in the mountains with the Semmering pass.
Apparently beer and wine taps are open all day for adults, and the kids have tons of options for climbing, playing, trampolining, petting animals etc. Skiing, horse back riding, etc. are also available. He said the price of the room included all three meals a day (good adult and kid food), and was quite reasonable.
Part of it is a castle, so that is an added bonus. :-)
