I have the honour of starting a new thread to share the excitement about the Savannah GTG, March 5th - 8th, 2009! If you've never been to Savannah, this is a great opportunity to spend some time in this historic city! If this is a return trip for you, it's a great opportunity to go back to your favorite spots along the way. We're happy to help you find a lovely accommodation in the neighbourhood around Forsyth Park.
The Forsyth Park House property has already been booked for accommodations and there are still rooms available at: The Mansion of Forsyth Park
This is going to be a very casual get-together, with no activities specifically planned other than the time, dates and location for the GTG. You'll have all the time you want for simply hanging out with other ST'ers, eating fabulous Savannahian food, sharing a great bottle of vino (or three!) and walking around exquisite Savannah, enjoying this glorious city.
Here's a list of everyone who has promised to be there, so far: Kendall Mac and Karen Leslie and Brent and Riley Mindy and Mindy's mom Nancy and her daughter Wendy and Rob Lynda Whaley Linda & Wes ...and me...and Michael, maybe!
Please post here if you are thinking about joining us in Savannah...ask any questions you have. Are you looking forward to Savannah as much as I am?

Topping! It's not that long until our Savannah GTG in March, and I'm already looking for flights and thinking about when I'm going to book my tickets, so I thought I'd top this GTG thread for everyone interested.
Just a recap... We are getting together for another luscious visit to the lovely city of Savannah from March 5th - 8th, 2009! We have pre-booked the Forsyth House and it's full to the rafters. Accommodations will be available at the following locations, if you'd like to join us... The Mansion on Forsyth Park
Here's the guest list, so far...if I've missed anyone or if I've listed your name and you are not able to come, please correct me: Leslie and Brent Mindy and her mom Mac and Karen Kendall Nancy L and her daughter Wendy and Rob ...and me!
Woo-hoo! Another gorgeous time in Savannah! That means I can... ~ Go to the Savannah Tea Room for lunch, at least 6 - 8 times! ~ Book another long, lazy, sultry southern afternoon with Geoff from Classic Caddy Tours ~ Walk downtown through Forsyth Park, watching for those SCAD students painting in the park ~ Take y'all to Jazz'd Wine and Tapas Bar for an evening, maybe 3 or 4?
Let us know if you'd like to come to Savannah with us in March, 2009!
Rules for Living in Savannah: 6. Consider anyone a "newcomer" whose family arrived later than the Fillmore Administration. Brenda
We need to add Riley, Lynda Whaley and possibly Linda & Wes to the list.
Brent, Riley and I will be having a Thursday night kick-off wine and cheese cocktail party at the carriage house. Wine contributions are most definitely welcome
More activity info ideas will be forthcoming in the next few weeks as well.
Hope to hear from all that are planning to attend this fun GTG!
Thank you for reviving this thread Brenda! My mom and I talk about the trip all of the time. In case she runs into anyone in the middle of the night (in the kitchen ) you'll be happy to know that she's already bought herself some new jammies.
A friend at work brought me the inflight Delta magazine, a whole section on Savannah. It even mentions Che Bella restaurant which was delicious! I think some of us will be going there on Thursday night (after wine and cheese at Leslie's)
The activities were perfect at the Great Gathering. Also, many did things on their own or in small groups which was nice! Mom and I can't wait to go on the Haunted Pub Crawl and on a Caddy tour!
Thanks, Leslie, for reminding me... Here's the newly revised, and more correct, list of attendees:
Leslie and Brent and Riley Mindy and her mom Mac and Karen Kendall Nancy L and her daughter Wendy and Rob Lynda Whaley Linda & Wes ...and me! 17 honorary Savannahians, so far!
Mindy, you want to go Caddy-ing with Geoff? Me, too! I need to ask him if he's still booking these tours, as he's been swamped with his restorations of old historic homes in the historical district. I'll let you know...
Thanks, Leslie for the generous offer of your welcome wine and cheese. I'll be there...it's only a few steps from my house to yours.
Woodstock, Hope you can make it! We missed you last time.
Mindy, You also want to spend an afternoon with Geoff in his cool Caddy? Me, too! I need to find out if he's still doing the tours, as he's been swamped with his restorations of a few historic homes in the area around Forsyth Park. I'll let you know!
I better book my flights soon, don't you think? I cannot believe we are going to be there in a few months. I truly fell in love with the city, the people and the surrounding area, so it will be wonderful to be there again.
Mindy, we'll bring some foldable crutches, just in case...
Rules for Living in Savannah: #14. The rest of the world calls it "The Civil War." Here in Savannah, it's "The War of Northern Aggression" or "The Recent Unpleasantness." Brenda
My daughter Monica is here this week and we're looking at flights to Savannah, and I've promised her a ride with Geoff out to Bonaventure Cemetery. Brenda, please let me know if Geoff is still touring - and if you have room for one more (Monica). I can't wait to see you all again!
I'll let you know, Nancy! We might have to book a couple of days with him, because there is really only space for 4 people in that gorgeous old caddy convertible. I'll ask him if he's willing to take some time away from his restorations for us, and let y'all know!
Rules for Living in Savannah: 46. Tailgating? Shoot, hon, we're just being sociable. Brenda
