Hi everyone,
We are looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow. We are loving London and going to the theatre tonight to see The Glass Menagerie with Jessica Lange. We are really living it up!

See you for tea!

Sorry, I should have mentioned earlier that afternoon tea will be served in the Drawing Room so that's where I'll aim to be a few minutes before 3 30pm and it looks like "Ricardo" will be joining us.

For the others -- Wendy, that's the room directly past reception, yes?

Maria,
Yes I think so but it's a little while since I've been there. The restaurant was through the drawing room and I don't imagine that they changed that around in the latest refurb.
It won't be difficult to find.

Posting this at 10 am here in California - and gussing you all had a wonderful tea today! Hope someone will post pictures and let us know what kind of wonderful goodies you had to eat!

I'm off in a couple of hours to our San Francisco GTG with Jerry from Canada! We will raise a toast to our fellow GTGers in England. Wish I could have been with you, too...I need an England fix

Well I believe a good time was had by all! It was wonderful meeting everyone finally.

No one had a camera, sorry!

It was all quite civilized for us first-time-tea'ers Happy There were quite a few different little sandwiches with the crusts cut off. There was cucumber, and ham with a great spicy mustard (or horseradish, but I'm sure it was a mustard), and salmon that was great. What else. Hmm.

Then there were scones with jam and oh-so-good thick cream. Oh yummy!!

Then there were desserts. I think I had a mini eclair thing.

Everything was served on the tiered platter.

Oh and the tea! I discovered a delicious spicy tea. I think it was called asram?

I had to leave early before dessert was done Frown so I don't know how long everyone stayed. The chairs were really comfy too, which was nice for just kicking back, munching, drinking and talking!

We thoroughly enjoyed a very leisurely mini gtg at The Cadogan. It was an excellent choice as the "Alastair Sim/Wilfred Hyde Whyte look alike" drawing room manager was very droll as he had been when we stayed there some years ago.
It was lovely to meet you all and thank you to everyone for making the effort.

Richard invented a new British drink "cofftea" by adding the contents of the coffee pot to the tea pot instead of hot water. Happy Coffee(It's me who doesn't drink tea, ironically as I love going out for afternoon tea.
Maria your tea blend was Assam and I am glad you enjoyed it.

Brenda if you need help with anything ahead of your trip please let me know and I hope you aren't too exhausted ?
In Guildford there is a very good cricketing outfitters if Jeremy needs his "whites" ahead of time....!
There were several hilarious conversations about the rules of that game half of which I still don't undersatnd and I have a cricketing husband and Son... Eek

Sorry I forgot to tell you what afternoon tea consisted of so in case anyone else wants to hold an "afternoon tea" gtg here it is:

Tea,several varieties including,Earl Grey,Assam,Darjeeling,Lapsang Souchon.
2 tiered plates of savoury, tiny, sandwiches with the crusts off of course:
Cucumber, cream cheese, egg and cress, smoked salmon and possibly other varieties but I am not sure.
Sweet Scones: 2 tiered plates of fruit scones, warm and of a very high standard with clotted cream, raspberry and strawberry jam.
French Pastries: Tiny chocolate eclairs, tiny fruit pavlovas, carrot cake, and at least 2 other types that I can't remember.
Next time I go out for afternoon tea I promise I will photograph the food and sorry about this lost oportunity.
Interesting to see afternoon tea has come back into fashion. Indeed I have just seen packages available on Last Minute.

Thanks for a wonderful GTG!! We had a great time with everyone and it was really fun to experience a nice relaxing tea. It was great to sit and talk for hours.

I can't believe that we forgot about taking pictures-we did have our camera and I only remembered about it when we left most of the gang at the tube stop. Frown

That night we walked for awhile and ended up at another tube stop and took that one back to our hotel area. It was a nice walk-of course not nearly long enough to work off those delicious scones. Pig

Thanks for the offer of help, Wendy. I bet I will need help as we get closer. Let's stay in touch.

Jeremy had a good laugh about getting his "whites"-I think we've got something there!

I am also anxious to see Bill in one of his performances-we really enjoyed the theatre we saw in London.

Now it is back to the routine-time to go pick up Emma from gymnastics.
