There are so many of us who live in Florida, should we plan a GTG?? I know a lot of us have specific schedules so we would need to have imput from everybody on a good time of year. Also we need to choose a central location that's convenient for everyone.

I vote for not in the dead of summer. Big Grin

I'm in, as long as it is before May, and not during the holidays, since I am in Italy at those times. Also, the sooner we plan a date the better, so I can make sure that I schedule my other trips to Italy around it.

My vote would be Orlando if possible, since all roads seem to lead there, and some time between Jan and March, since it seems to be the best time for the part-time Floridians, too.

The only conflict with those parameters is the Great Slow Travel Gathering the first weekend of April.

I think orlando is a fair location--not too far for me ( about 4 hours).

Late January or early Feb. would be good.

We really owe it to ourselves to make this happen!

Hi Fellow Floridians.... Big Grin

I just saw this post. Orlando would work for me too as I'm on the Space Coast.

I think this is a good idea. I also vote for Orlando area sometime between February and April, before the heat and hoards of Disney tourists arrive.

Perhaps someone who lives in or knows that vicinity well can recommend an area, such as Winter Park, that is not IN Orlando.

Where is Doug? I'l try to send him a PM.

the last weekend in Jan and the first in Feb are out for me. I'll be doing my intensive Pilates training those 2 weekends.

How about the second weekend in Feb? or earlier in January.

Let's not forget the Gathering in Savannah is the first weekend in April.

Okay... you found me!!

Early January does not work for me as I am in Atlanta for a trade show. Ideally, February would work the best or even early March.

As for Orlando, I do live in Winter Park. Depending on how many we have, we might be able to do it at our house and we could have it on the Piazza in the backyard or I might be able to get our park on the lake, which overlooks Rollins College, as a member of the Virginia Heights neighborhood. Down side to the park is no bathrooms.

There is some great little Italian restaurants around town where we could also meet up. One of them is in Baldwin Park which used to be the Old Naval Training Station. I know the owner and, with enough advance notice on a day and time, we could probably fill the place. As the owner spent time being schooled in Milano, we can count on good food.

We have options, but just need some dates..

Doug,

I like all your ideas for Winter Park. The restaurant in Baldwin Park sounds very good.

I guess everyone needs to chime in with their free dates. I'll give my open time now beause I will be in Italy 23 Oct thru 1st week in Nov. You can count me in Jan - April. After that we go to NC mountain home.

BTW, Sandy Wise lives in Jax and posts on ST. She might be interested also.

Patricia,

Are you leaving this October for Italy? (like in 2 weeks?)

My reason for asking is I have an Italian phone who I loaned to a customer and she graciously put E65 on it before she left Italy!!! I'll never use that many minutes.

If you need it or would like to use it, let me know and I can meet up with you in Jax JUST before you leave or send it up to you.

The offer is there as I don't want to see the Euro go to waste.

Also, for the rest of you locals here in FL, the offer is there for you guys as well....

Doug,

Yes, we leave a week from this Tuesday. Thank you so much for the offer of the phone. However, I am in a pinch for time, and can't drive to Winter Park, and I don't want you to drive to JAX to deliver a phone. Surely, you will be going back to Italy!!

Thank you for the offer, sei molto simpatico.

I just got my schedule for my Pilates Workshop so now I will offer my free dates:

The weekend of Jan 26/27 or

Feb 9/10 or
Feb 23/24.

I would love to see this happen! I think the Florida group has to show some "team spirit" like the Calif. people.

Ciao from Bagno Vignoni!

I don't have my calendar with me, but I'll check to see which dates might better for me. It depends on my husband's schedule and the schedule of golf tournments, which I will not want to miss.

I'll check back next week!

Wow... this thread got suddenly busy. Thanks for the heads up, Jan :-).

I have a Feb problem. It looks like I have an off-season tour / cooking vacation forming up that will run from early February till early March. It's a big one, which is very custom, so I'll be flying across the pond to manage it.

Outside of that, any time before May is ok with me.

either the weekend of the 26th or the weekend before work for me. It will be days before I leave for Italy again, but no biggy. Sadly I just had to bow out of the Innkeepers GTG in Italy that is going on around the same time.
