If you have read Judy's (Divina Cucina) blog entry Solo Ciccia, you know that this will be a new food pilgramage mecca. I have reservations for 7 people on October 7 at 7 pm and could probably increase that. When dining you sit at a communal table so it is fun and nice to know the people at the table with you. This is in Panzano.

[edited by Chris to correct spelling of rstaurant name]

Tina in Tennessee and her husband and Ken and I are going. Anyone else up for this culinary delight? It should be a special night.

Hi Jane, Oh my...this place sounds incredible!
I just read Judy's blog on it. We will be having dinner with Tina and Ken the night before at the Villa and in the morning we are headed to Tavarnelle Val di Pesa for a weeks stay in an agriturismo there. So this couldnt be any more perfect. If my memory serves me right, Panzano is not too far from there; about 30 minutes. I will set my Google Maps to send me the best way.
Count us in at the table; my friend Margi and I. I knew we had to get together on this trip and here it is! Looking forward to it, Liz

Liz, this is perfect! Let's try to meet around 6:45 or so in Panzano plaza--if you know Panzano, you know it is tiny and so there will be no problem finding each other. I think this will be much better than our last dinner together.

If anyone else wants to join us, just let me know and I will expand the reservation.

Jane:

Our family will be staying in Radda and I wanted to book for dinner at Solociccia, but I can't find a phone number in any of the blogs, etc. I've been reading about Dario and the new restaurant for several months and we'd love to go.

If you can provide it, I'd be eternally grateful.

Fancy

Fancy, the number is 055 852727 The woman who usually answers does not speak English so try to figure out what you want to say in Italian before you call--maybe you speak Italiano--then no problem. When are you going to be in Radda?

Jane: Thanks for the phone number. If we don't get to the restaurant, we definitely will visit Dario's shop. We will be there next week, arriving Sat. My mother-in-law is treating herself and all her children/grandchildren to her 75th birthday celebration in Chianti. Most are staying in a home near Gaiole, the rest in a hotel in Radda. Appreciate your help.

Judy, that's a great tutorial--thank you. I am afraid that is not exactly or even close to the mangled way I asked--but somehow I think we communcated. I hope so as I believe I have reservations. Maybe I should have someone call for me to make sure!

Jane.. I confirmed for you.. they had you on the 7th for 7 people at 9!

what is nice is that you are served family style so can take as much or as little food as you like!

I just take tablespoon sized portions..and am fine.. while the guys load up!

My favorite is the last served...
Brasato di Midollo which was the recipe included in the article.
It is a WHOLE ossobuco, so the shank, butterflied and boned, with the marrow put back in with rosemary and salt and slowly braised with Shallots and cooked for at least 3 hours, the deglazed with Vin Santo, and served in pieces with the shallots and sauce put on top!
WOW

he also sometimes does the Stracotto.. potroast.. which is a 45 pound piece of meat, cooked whole in wine for 12 hours!!!
These are his recipes.. and are the way people used to cook..a real culinary treasure!

Although Dario can be rough at times ( immagine having people come in flashing foto's asking you to sing( where did someone get that idea) and eating your food and leaving with out even saying Ciao and Grazie!)
it can get on anyone's nerves!

he has a heart of gold and part of the rough tough exterior is also the Tuscan way of joking around. to see if you can take it!

I used to cry when I first started waitressing in Fiesole, the owner made fun of me so often or yelled.. they told me I was permalosa!!!
too sensitive...
I have built up some of my tuscan toughness and can dish it back now too!

have a blast!

This seems to be an italian way of communicating. Casey is having a hard time with his maestre-- bothof them--shouting at the kids. Maybe I can do a workshop on classroom management.

Yep--off topic for the thread but it just fit.

Thanks Judy for running interfence.
