I was planning to have our esteemed St. Louis guest Deborah and our very esteemed Matriarch Marian over for dinner on the Thursday before SlowBowl, and am happy to have others join us.
How about a potluck, and I'll provide the main course - pizza, or something simple like that.
Post here if you can come. (I know it's early to decide what to bring - don't worry about it yet! )

I'm sealing the individual bottles really well; wrapping them in bubble wrap; taping the bubble wrap closed; putting the bubble wrapped bottles in ziplock bags; and then taping them into a six bottle styrofoam wine case; and packing the styrofoam case in a hardsided suitcase.
If they leak, it should stay contained.
Exploding is another matter entirely....

Hmm, will the aperitivi / digestivi have become frozen, in transit or before?
Deborah will not be allowed to check into the Melody Ranch if all her hooch is swallowed up in San Jose. Another time when I wished I lived in the northern half of this state. Sounds like a fun partae.
Marian, the Everclear means freezing is out of the question.
Don't worry Marcia there is enough for both venues.

cubbies - Sorry to miss seeing you on Thursday, but I understand the draw of Cambria ... I'm hoping to make it over there myself one day of the SB weekend!

I'm going to order some pizzas from Pizza Antica at Santana Row.
We'll definitely get one of each of these, because they're fabulous! ** Bartlett Pear, Sweet Garlic and Mt. Tam Triple Cream Cheese ** Heirloom Potato, Caramelized Onion and White Truffle Oil
Take a look at the menu linked above and see what else looks good. I think we 'need' two more pizzas for this crowd.
Also - who's bringing what for the potluck?
Eden - appetizers Deborah - homemade hooch Darci - Caesar salad Sharon - something vegie Sue & David - dessert (yum!) Marian - (in reserve)
Thanks! Colleen

I could bring another salad or some other veggie dish.
Your pizza selections sound wonderful . I've never tried those. If you think we need another type of pizza, I would vote for something simple like tomato sauce, mozzarella and basil, but I am sure that whatever you decide will be terrific!

Colleen, I'm with Sharon. The choices you've listed sound fabulous, and I really want to try them, but you can't beat the classic Margherita. I'm tasting my way through my 30+ varieties of liqueur to decide which ones make the cut for transport. Tough duty, but someone has to do it.
