So after all the excitement of the contest, I am feeling a need for another Slow Travel event. We had so much fun at Amy's last year that I thought another pot luck dinner would be just the thing to look forward to. Especialy since I missed the November GTG. I would be happy to host a GTG at my house in Cambridge, as long as it's buffet style and all those great ST cooks bring their creations! We aslo seem to have quite a few members from the Boston area on the boards these days. Saturday, March 25th works best for me. Any takers?

I'm in Colleen, what a great idea. Thanks for offering to host. I may bring my cousin-in-law Mauro, since he's back in Boston for work again.

I added the date to the heading.

Sounds like great fun but this is a bad weekend for me. I'm expecting house guests. If circumstances change, I'll let you know. ---Marlene

Colleen,

Thanks so much for sending me a note about the GTG. Thinks have been kind of crazy here and I have been off the boards for a bit.

We are flying back from Florida on saturday the 25th-I think we get in time to come on out to Cambridge. I am going to run it by Jeremy and see what he thinks. We will be coming home to one child we haven't seen in 10 days so I need to think about that too. He is the lucky one-one of my almost 17 year old sons (twins) is going to France to play music with the school jazz band. The rest of us are going to Florida. At least we are going somewhere!

So a definite maybe.....

Thanks for organizing this.

Grace and I are looking forward to finally matching faces to some of those that have aided us over the last couple of years in our Italy Obsession. Please get in touch so we don't bring the 15th lasagna!

Great!! So happy to connect with old and new STers.
So far we have:
Colleen and Jim
Amy and Larry
Maureen and Mauro
Mindy
Debbie and Paul
Ken and Joann
Kate and Reid
Max and Grace
Madaline
Kathrine
Marian
? Brenda and husband

I will work on thoughts for a menu but it will probably be Italian and I love lasagna! I will also send out directions in the near future. I think I have everyone's email address except Max. Wait till you see my office which friends and family call "a shrine to Italy". I figure this is one group that will "get it". Wink Grin

Hi Colleen:

I am tempted to come up to Boston for the GTG, and stay with a kind friend. Will let you know a couple of weeks before.

(I'll bring cheese, ok?....) Pig

OK, if everyone is able to make it (including Kathrine and husband who will know closer to the date)we will have 20 people in attendance! Big Grin
So I will surely need help with the food! I think I will start things rolling by planning to have a butternut squash lasagna, a spiral ham, a broccoli casserole and a salad with cranberries and goat cheese. That leaves lots of room for appetizers, main courses,(Amy I loved your mushroom lasagna-not to influence your contribution or anything Wink), side dishes, salads and deserts. And of course any beverages you would like to bring. Let the Pot Luck creativity begin!

Since I am moving that weekend and probably won't be able to find my whisk or vanilla extract, I'll bring some delicious desserts from Fratelli's, a marvelous new bakery here in Quincy. Cake

Another offer of dessert- vin santo and biscotti(homemade). And if I have a chance- soup (I have a terrific book of Italian soup recipes, with several favorites).
