I'm headed into San Francisco the afternoon of the 21st to shop at the Holiday Artisan Fair at the de Young Museum in Golden Gate Park.
I also want to see the Amish quilt exhibit that opens tomorrow ... http://famsf.org
Is anyone interested in meeting for dinner that Saturday night? (And/or joining me at the de Young.) I'm thinking that the nearby Thanh Long Vietnamese restaurant would be nice (garlic noodles! drunken crab!), but could be persuaded to go elsewhere if someone has a good suggestion.
Post in this thread if you're interested!
Thanks, Colleen

Colleen David and I may be up for this. I think we have opera that evening, and could meet you beforehand if all coordinates properly. Do you have any idea what time you might dine?

Colleen Actually, that would probably work rather well for us. Let me double check with David to be sure, and get back to you. Has anyone else responded? Ruth

PS I am in San Diego with my sister, and it is absolutely beautiful here! We are staying at the La Jolla Hilton, and even have a view of the ocean. Weather is great too!

Looks like it'll be a small group for dinner tonight at Thanh Long's ... we'll raise a toast to absent friends. If you're in the area around 6pm, stop by and say hello!

Colleen it sounds like a wonderful time. If I lived up north I'd be there to join you. The exhibits sound esp. interesting and dinner, yum sounds really enticing. Enjoy! Barb Cabot
Eden I don't think anyone took any pictures. It was a small group including me and husband David, Darci, Colleen, and Margo (don't know if she has attended any other ST events). The crab was fabulous though, and I pity those who couldn't come~!

No photos of our dinner at Thanh Long (mmm garlic noodles! drunken crab! ) but I did take some pictures of the de Young tower and the Pool of Enchantment. Unfortunately, they're not cooperating with my photo editing software to resize small enough for posting on the message board. I'll try again later!
btw, the Amish quilt exhibit is fairly small, but some are absolute masterpieces. I'd never seen an Amish "crazy quilt" before, but the maker maintained the simple Amish style while adding very controlled "crazy" patches. Highly recommended for a visit!
King Tut madness is still happening at the de Young, but I noticed the crowds for the exhibit are smaller than when Marian and I saw it in August.
