My husband and I are renting part of a villa just outside Florencewith another couple Mar 13-20. The dining room seats 20 (!) so it would be ideal for a GTG.

We'd love to meet some other Slow Travelers.

Wow!!!! How cool that would be. Wish I were going to be there at that time. I don't plan to return until sometime in April.

My daughter, Kristina, and I are going to be at the Koinè School in Firenze and will be there from March 18 thru the 31st. We are leaving on April 1 for Sorrento.

According to the best schedule I can find to date from the school, we will be free on the evenings of:
Tues. March 21
Fri. March 24
Sun. March 26
Mon. March 27
and possibly
Thu. March 30

Now getting there might be another thing as we are not renting a car. Anyhow, things always seem to have a way of working out if they need to.

It would be great if we could have a GTG there. Your place looks absolutely gorgeous!

Well, Roll Eyes my husband was rushing me to change computers with him and I didn't read your post real good. Apparently!

We'll be there the week after you guys are gone! Oh well, I have it all written down now so maybe we can find someone else to GTG with.

Well, I'm sure I'll get organized on this soon! Confused

If you can have it the 19th, we could definitely make it as we arrive in Firenze Saturday 18th and Sunday is a free day. We may be jet-lagged, but we expect to hit the ground running. We can rest up when we get home!

And of course it depends on how far away you are and if we could get transportation there.

wow - I should have had my notification turned on for this!

I think Sunday the 19th would work - perhaps lunch? We leave early, early for Rome Monday morning). We don't have our entire itinerary planned our yet - part of it depends on which contest prize i end up with Wink but we will be arriving Monday afternoon the 13th. Wednesday and Thursday are accounted for and everything else is open. We plan to spend at least one day in Florence and the rest of the time visiting the small towns and villages.

Please post if you're interestd in planning a GTG.

I don't think it is accessible by public transportation, unfortunately - info from their website is below.

quote:
Torre a Cona is located in a village called San Donato in Collina, about 8 miles south east of Florence. To get to Torre a Cona we suggest you to take the Highway A1 Milano-Napoli and exit at Firenze Sud. After the toll-barrier go straight and exit at Bagno a Ripoli. Follow the road for 2 km (1.2 miles) and pass four redlights. At the roundabout turn right in the direction of Bagno a Ripoli. Drive for 700m and turn left at the stop following the sign San Donato (9 km - 5.6 miles). As you arrive and pass San Donato, the road will begin to go downhill and after a few meters you will see the Villa on your left. Take the unpaved road to your left till the reception behind the villa.

With no public transport there, we can't make it unless somebody else is going to be driving from Florence that day. We didn't plan on renting a car because we are just a 10-minute walk from our school.

I'll still be waiting for somebody to jump in and say they've got a car and would be happy to give us a ride!
