Well, as often happens, one GTG begets talk of another. At last night's SF gathering, there was brief talk of our summer picnic at Redwood Regional Park. So it is time to start planning. To facilitate (or complicate - we will see which it is), thought I'd take a poll to see when would be the bestest for the mostest, given summer schedules. So - if you are interested, add your vote.

Judy

Question:
On the assumption that we will have another great gathering in the Redwoods this summer, what weekend(s) works best for you?

Choices:
July 17-18
July 24-25
July 31-Aug 1
Aug 7-8
Aug 14-15
Aug 21-22
Aug 28-29
Any time in July
Any time in August
ANY weekend will work for me

Question:
Would you prefer a Saturday, or a Sunday picnic?

Choices:
Saturday
Sunday
It don' not matter much

Judy, I picked the last weekend in August, but I really don't know yet what our summer schedule will be, so that's just a tentative vote. I do know we can't do the weekend of the 21st, as that's my son's birthday.

Anyway, we are not sure yet when we will be in California this summer, so don't count my vote too heavily at this point!

Right now, all dates look good to us.

We can arrive early to hold our spot, as we did a couple of years ago.

You know if I tell which July weekend works for us, it will only serve as a jinx and then we won't be able to make it, as history serves Frown. But I did vote.

I checked anytime would work fine for us but keep in mind, the later into the summer we get together, the closer Dana and I will be to our trip to Italy and the more hyper-excited I'll be.

This isn't a threat...merely a warning.

Thanks for getting this going Judy!

At this point the only weekend I know for sure won't work for us is July 24/25. Best weekend for us at this point would probably be 7/31-8/1. I think that's how I voted but now I'm wondering if I accidentally voted for the date that wouldn't work for us. Confused

OK -
Roz - one reason I decided to try a poll was to keep the decision making process unbiased - trying to avoid feeling guilty when I picked a weekend that wouldn't work for someone. Of course the downside is I don't know who has voted and who hasn't seen the invitation yet!

Jon - thanks for offering to be our early bird! That would be great.

Marcia - I had already figured that if you pinpointed a specific weekend, we would schedule it for some other time, so there would at least be a small chance you could make it. Big Grin

hmm...maybe we should reschedule for next week. But nah, once you and Dana have shared in the mandatory rations of limoncello and grappa, your excitement should be within normal range.

Marcy - if you voted, you voted right - the results are shown ABOVE the date, not below (it has taken me forever to figure this out); and no one has voted for the weekend of July 24/25.

Happy That's why I tried to vote twice. Should I just give you our Hollywood Bowl dates? If it's a Saturday, we should have no problem with July weekends, and early August, think I prefer July.

Hi Judy and All - I agree with everyone with many thanks for getting this going now so we can get a date set aside. I voted as well - thanks much...I must have had more limoncello and grappa than I thought - but your comment reminded me of them! Nice to start thinking of a picnic as we sit here in the cold and rain....

At this point I have no summer plans after England, so anytime is fine with me. (I voted).

Thanks for starting this Judy. I was just thinking about our annual picnic in the woods the other day -- not so much the date as the fact that I was looking forward to it.

I voted for any time in July only because I usually spend some time in Toronto in August. I'm sure I would be able to work around almost any weekend in August, though.

Voted. Thanks from us too Judy, you are the Queen Pauline.

I will say I voted for Aug. as I am hoping to have a GTG here in June and July - Marcia, how is that week planning going for SC in July?

The weekend that I know won't work is July 18th, as that is Rob's bday and we need to be here to celebrate it w/ his Mother.

And either Sat. or Sun. works though Rob said Sat. was best so that is what I dotted in the poll.

This is going to be a great summer for GTG's Joanna's Dancing Man

I'm working on it, Wendy, but finding a place is much harder than I thought it would be.

We're definitely in for Saturdays re: picnic, since one of us needs to be back home for work on Monday mornings in the summer.

Reservation has been made for Roberts Grove again, on Saturday, July 31st. I'll announce it in a new thread -- if I add the date to this one it erases the poll data!

Closing this thread.
