Wendy, I have tentative plans to be there 21st through 28th; once I've made the reservations, we'll talk. (And of course I am looking forward to seeing you and the Redwoods. )
My daughter and son-in-law are finally booked, flying into Rome (with us, from LA-London, and JFK-London connections) on the 15th and returning to NYC on the 21st. They have an apartment close to us and we are so thrilled to have a chance to show them our favorite city.
So October 26th works for us. Looking forward to a good lunch (dinner?) and meeting you all.

I am putting the 26th on my calendar, and Marian is just across the piazza from us! (we are on Via dei Farnesi)
Back from our wonderful stay in Sausalito, where the weather was absolutely perfect. Clear and sunny skies~~~a delightful surprise for August. Your gtg up in that neck of the woods must have been great.

While I am not a fan of Dar Pallaro, I do see the sense in a fixed menu and price for a group. Certainly makes it easier when ordering and paying! I have seen the photos of your GTG last year there, and the setting looked wonderful. However, I think they may be closed on Monday.
Another choice might be Alfredo e Ada, via dei Banchi Nuovi 14, with a fixed menu too. Again though, not sure if it's open for lunch.
Wherever you decide to meet will work for us as it's probably the company more than the food that's important in this case.

Debra, I think you are right ---- Dar Pallaro is apparently not open Mondays. And it looks like Alfredo e Ada is only open evenings --- at least from a quick Google.
I don't much care where we eat, as long as I can have some sort of vegetarian option,, i.e., not ALL the pastas made with meat or shellfish. As you say, the company is more important than the food.
What does everyone think about La Taverna dei Fori Imperiali? I've never been there, but it's well reviewed here, and open Monday. Or is it not centrally located?
Doesn't look as if there will be a crowd; I think 5, or maybe 6 if Tony is around.

I have that on my list to try this trip! The reviews on ST make it sound delicious. On my calendar (that includes church opening times and restaurant hours) I have them listed as closed Tuesday.
For us, (including you,Marian,) it would be an easy walk down via Gubbonari to via Arenula, past the Largo cat sanctuary, around the VE Monument to Via dei Fori Imperiali. The restaurant is near via Cavour. Maybe 15 minutes.

I've been thinking of going to Rome solo in October or November but plane tickets are do high. Actually, I think I am probably just dreaming but what a good dream it is. If somehow a good price comes along I may just do it. If so, Wendy, I'd love to meet you in Rome.
On another note: I have heard rumors that La Taverna dei Fori Imperiali may be closed for reservations renovations . As the restaurant does not have a website, I was unable to check this our authoritatively. Any spies out there?
Well, don't know what I was thinking--obviously not clearly. Our court date for the adoption is October 27 and no matter what happens, I probably need to be here for a few days-either to celebrate or to start the next step. Oh well, the dream was nice while it lasted.
I am going to try to get there solo this year sometime. I just hope it is when others are there, too. Of course, Ellen is always there so that should work.
So ---- Not so easy to find restaurants open Monday. But what about Armando al Pantheon? The menu looks great, and they even set out vegetarian. But no prices on menu. Thoughts?
We need to thank my neighbor Peter (Pecepe) who alerted me to the Chowhound mention of the renovations. Armando al Pantheon was one of his recommendations, and it's been on my list as well. (But you're welcome anyway Debra; will be nice to meet you one day soon!)
Okay, plan change number 29300229, If Peter recommended it it will great. It also has been recommeded to us on several occasions and we have been wanting to go there. (We know one of the vinters whose wine Armando al Panteheon carries - Terra Roubre, I think is the name. I'll check before our lunch).
So, who makes the reservations and how many are we actually

Jane, I am sorry to read that this particular date can't work for you, but we both hope you will be celebrating the finish to this long journey the three of you have been taking on the evening of the 27th. Our very best and though I doubt it is neccessary, we send good luck wishes. You and Ken are both .

I think that MargM is going to be the first one to arrive in Rome. She hasn't checked in here in a while, but maybe she could make the reservation (assuming the restaurant is ok with her).
I saw your post on the bakery thread Marian, and popped in here. I was a bit confused and then realized that this is for the Oct 26th GTG and I'll be back home by then. I'm the Oct 22nd GTG at Al Bric.
